misses KL

i miss my hometown. :(

the first few days, after you leave your family and childhood friends, are hardest. the once-a-year, precious 2 weeks that i get. bahhh.

but again, it's been a horrendously fun time. to juggle time between my family and friends i just slept less, but it was so worth it. new and old friends, new memories, what can i say? :) i'd always miss KL.

some things to remember:

fai for his tireless effort in entertaining me, the 8 gigs of music will keep me company, blood diamond and apocolypto, yay!!! (sorry for stealing your 2 dvds, we still have to finish the guardian :( )

mark, for being the surprise friend, for the heart-to-heart chats and support even being that far away

mindy's 'I HAVE A PAIR!!!' with her king and jack, AHAHAHA damn funny wei.

jo's hilariously lame jokes 'if this is a condo (hand vertical), what is this (hand horizontal)?'

kin mun's 'OI that's premature xxx (sensored)' during poker when someone plays ahead of their turn

lin yee's 'i know how to go i know how to go!!' and brings me to genting.....twice.

gelearn - thanks :) i really appreciate it.

the mad gambling: poker, mahjong, blackjack, cho tai ti, in-between (tim i'm never playing this game again, kena tiang once is enough for me).

the chili king crab (my GOSH it's good), curry laksa, ipoh hor fun, roti kaya, buffet with family, 'romantic' valentines dinner at banana leaf. no wonder i have high cholestrol.

lalala!!!

road directions

in the US we have google maps, which is very reliable when needing directions from point A to point B. generally it would sound like this:

"Right on Carlmont Dr."
"Left on Sky Road"
"Continue on Sky Road, arrive at 3053 Sky Rd"

malaysian directions are generally a little more vague. overheard on a phone conversation:

"at the roundabout off the LDP, make a 9 o'clock"
"go straight ah, then you will see some high intensity cables" (WHAT high intensity cables?!)
"follow the high intensity cables until the traffic light, then make a left"
"you'll pass 2 bus stops, one very busy, and one not very busy. turn right after the busy bus stop"

HEH??

self-improvement

recent turn of events have made me question whether i'm becoming increasingly arrogant. sometimes i am less tolerant than i should be, and i'm not sure if this is because of getting older, or climbing the corporate world with more responsibilities that makes me more aggressive and less giving. :(

baffles me because i'm not usually like that. or so i think i remember so.

i argued today with two (pretty aggressive-looking) men over a parking spot in the shopping mall. i let my anger take control of me, and i fought for something i thought was right. looking back, i should have handled it differently, and not put my family at risk. i could have backed down, and looked for an alternative solution. everyone would end up winning in that situation. but i did not do that.

many times you fight for what you believe is your right, but when that compromises your safety, or the safety of the ones around you, then it isn't worth the risk.

giving in is not a sign of weakness or defeat. you could also see it as taking the higher road, and choosing the wiser course of action.

190

my sister has this theory, that all malaysians have high cholestrol.

i absolutely love the ngau lam tong, char koay teow, curry laksa, ipoh hor fun, ahhh the list is endlessly long. and along with the hawker food, the greasy oil, the oh-my pork bone soup, msg, soy sauce, etc etc.

*covers ears* i don't want to listen!! give me my two weeks of blissful chinese new year eating and gorging of food.

thank goodness i can justify this by the lack of the 'awesome' food in sf. :(

up to tahoe!

i am. SO. sore. even moving around in bed is painful.

but ahhhh it was SO much fun!!! bunch of co-workers and i went up tahoe for the weekend for some skiing/boarding. we rented this huge house (paid for by the firm, yay!) and took 4 cars up.

some highlights:
- smacked my tailbone and back of my head so hard against the ice i almost got a concussion
- falling everytime i got off the ski lift (seriously i can't seem to master this)
- banged up my knees due to numerous falls
- snowboarding faster than i've ever done so before, mainly to try and catch up with some coworkers who were friggin fast (that also meant tumbling down the slope fast) - went down mostly blue lines, graduated from the bunny slopes!

- almost dislocated my shoulder while frantically trying to stop
- almost boarded off the cliff twice, managed to fall just in time before my board went over
- played flip cups and the 'death of the ring' in drunken deubachery (i felt like i was back in a fraternity house)
- gambling in the casinos....i won 50 bucks in blackjack!!

the social committee's been doing well. think the next social is whale-watching (??!!), and an nba game late march.

awesomeness. okay i'm hungry now.
