working from home

due to a bit of sickness and work preferences that i follow the central time zone, i have been working from home the last 3 days. from my bed specifically.

get up at 6.45, brush teeth, shower and change (into another set of PJs), boot up my laptop and hop straight into bed again.

i had thought that working from home might be ineffective, but boy did i get a lot of work done. maybe it was the tylenol cold pills (severe non-drowsy) that kept me going. but i think i got more done at home than in the office honestly (i mean look at me, i'm in the office today and am blogging now!).

didn't venture out of the apt at all. actually, except for the short 1 hour break i took for a lunch-while-watching-tv session, i hardly moved from my bed at all for 3 whole days :p.

maybe i feel like bonding more with my apt these days now that i'm actually leaving.

a feeling of sorts

while i'm ecstatic about what adam's new job will offer, i cannot help feeling a twinge of sadness. okay, so not just a twinge, but i'm also feeling horribly lost.

many things to think about. where will i stay? with whom? should i remain in my current place and look for a new roommate? or should i live by myself? should i stay at the current location? move down south with my office? do i still need to have my own bathroom? would i prefer to live with a girl?

together with that, larger questions. do i like my current job? or should i switch groups. should i remain in this city? but where else would i go then? should i continue to rent?

i realize that i have a really comfortable situation. i have a roommate whom i rely on tremendously, my uncle's up the road. rent's cheap, my apt sizeable, and i have everything i need around me. it's quiet, 20 mins to work but also 20 mins to downtown. 5 mins to a shopping mall, asian grocery store, 15 mins to the airport, and aaron's around the corner.

i guess i don't like change. i have no idea what i'll do. i don't even know what my preferences are.

i will really miss adam.

stuffed up

my throat hurts slightly, my eyes are smarting and i can't breathe. and it's been like this for the last 5 days.

hmm am contemplating working from home (from bed specifically), should i?

but thankgiving has been good. weather was absolutely beautiful, went horseback riding (i am never sitting on tarzan again, that horse wouldn't MOVE), ate tons of food, shopping, and just simple hanging out with those who mean a lot to me. that alone is a blessing.

i have a lot to be thankful about.

ipod integration

ipod now can fly.

am i the only one who thinks that this is completely useless? if airlines actually find some extra cash after all that bankruptcy and continued loss, i'd rather they bring back the good 'ol food and pillows rather than some dumb integration with a music player.

picking up hitchhikers

i wonder how many times we hesitate doing something good because we're afraid.

saw a hitchhiker while driving to work the other day. she seemed not-dangerous, very normal-looking, probably walking to the next gas station because her car started acting up. i debated back and forth about whether to invite her into my car. after all, the gas station was like 2 miles away. but i decided not to.

do we refrain ourselves from helping others? out of fear that someone might take advantage of their good samaritan-ness and be up to no good?

i believe that there are tons of people out there who truly have good hearts. unfortunately we don't see as many good deeds as we should because of that small minority who are ready to exploit them...

*pulls hair*

I AM SO *sdofijsoefmowie!!!!!* about work.

but i love chicago. :( i'd be sad to leave.

this one might be obvious, but so useful.

when cutting onions wear contacts, not glasses. saves you a lot of crying.

portland report

finally. able to post a couple of pictures of the portland trip last weekend.

portland's a very chill place. kinda like a mini-seattle, but without the yuppy microsoft and amazon employees around every corner. jon thought we should all pitch in to buy a place in pearl district, but looks like real estate in portland is catching up too.

i thought this picture was hilarious. :)

should we be suspicious?

as i'm sitting in my car waiting for apurva (i don't think we're fated to meet up for lunch, we've ended up in separate locations - TWICE), two girls approach me to ask if i would like some free perfume samples.

warning bells went off in my head - i had read something similar (you know those spam mails you get in hotmail) where they warn you of people trying to give out free perfume samples in a parking lot, and the 'samples' are actually chloroform. after you lapse unconscious, they steal your car.

so i smiled and said 'no', and wearily observed them as they approached another car to a more receptive (ignorant) person who sniffed like crazy.

i just glanced up, and the dude in that car is still alive. so maybe i'm wrong. or just overly cautious...
