time for an upgrade

i feel pretty guilty for feeling happy that my old camera konked out. i got the SD100 5 years back, and i loved it, but my sis keeps on flaunting her new (multiple) camera(s) in front of me and i get envious.

so a few days ago, when i turned on my SD100 to take a picture with a friend, i found out that the lens no longer worked. yay! :) time to buy a new camera.

so i got this. i wanted the black, but my sis said she'd secretly swap hers with mine (she has the black) since she tainted hers with chocolate. (she always does that, she spilled coffee over her new white north face jacket. twice. once on each sleeve. on the same day.)

it's not exactly the latest model, but i love the shape, the size, all of it. i didn't need the 12MP that other models provided.

i feel a little extravagant since it IS the recession after all (but mitu tells me to keep the economy going), but at least i'm not like someone who went all kiam siap and bought a $10 for 10 mins phone plan (what a terrible plan), and within a month, ditched it for this overkill:

turning snooty

i hope i'm not turning into a snooty starbucks drinker, i think, i hope not!! i'm starting to really love my chai, and if they don't get it right, it doesn't taste good.

argh. i had to ask them to make it 3 times today.

hot receptionists

so we have a new receptionist here, and she's very skinny quite cute (i think, i haven't seen her face yet), and suddenly all my coworkers are introducing themselves to front desk.

americans must be the most keh-boh-chi people in the world. they don't strike me as the nosy type, but boyyyy when there's an accident on the road, or even the possibility of an accident on the road, they're busy craning their necks to see what happened. causing a traffic jam for the dumbest reason.

and i thought the chinese were busybodies.

hair straightener

i'm finally a proud owner of a 1" hair straightener.

now for those who know me, why would i, a girl already with straight hair, WANT a straightener? (my dad used to say i have hair like wire, which i didn't appreciate.)

oh well. :) it helps me keep my hair in place or else it'll stick out in weird directions, esp. after sleeping or not drying properly.

and besides! most girls have it, so i'd feel a little left out, no?

obsessed about minutes

so ever since adam and i resolved our family plan, i've downgraded my cellphone plan to one of the cheapest individual options - 450 peak time minutes, 400 text messages for < $50 a month.

450 peak minutes (6AM to 9PM) is really quite a stretch (considering i use my cell phone for work purposes sometimes, and seeing how conference calls easily last up to hours), and i find myself obsessing over my voice usage to make sure i don't go over.

of course, my sister does not want to switch over to cingular, and still insists on calling me every monday morning while driving to work.

p.s. steph has 750 peak minutes (her peak minutes start at 7pm!!) and she STILL runs over. AND she doesn't use it for work (she's a doctor!)
