b & g oysters

sorry for the long absence....i was moving (UGH!) and still am struggling to get my place together! (COME VISIT!)
was in boston over the last week....awesome awesome week. things had to come to an end :( but the very last night i was there, we searched for a seafood restaurant (since boston's so well known for it anyway?) to see how it compared to other locations. found decent reviews about B&G oysters, so we went!
i think this is one of the most fun dinners i've had. :) we got to sit right in front of the cooks and the food was so yummy!! a must-go if you're craving seafood and are in boston.

i just got back from a ballet and jazz class (double whammy at one go after 4-ish years of not dancing) and i'm quite unfit!

but i loved it. :) i think i'll go again. but this time i'll eat breakfast AND dinner the night before so as to not pass out.

growth group

yesterday was my first time at growth group in a while, i used to go back in singapore (i still remember desmond yelling from downstairs up the window, reminding me it's cell group time!), but i've never gone since i moved to the States.

the topic of discussion was deserters and disappointers. maybe it's because i was amongst a group of middle-aged men (age-factor, so i don't have as many stories), or maybe i truly do have a blessed life. during this discussion, we were asked to ponder on the deserters and disappointers in our lives, and i used to think i had a few, not many, but just a few (this is actually how i started blogging). but when i listened to their stories, my own complaints and trials seem very very small compared to what others have gone through.

so instead of focusing on what and whom let me down, i chose to look at what i'm thankful for instead:
1. for my family. they have been the most supportive, close-knit, non-dysfunctional family i could ever ask for.
2. for having a sister with me in this country. i can't ever imagine what it would be like if i didn't have a sister i could just pick up the phone and call (and talk about rubbish). it really makes a world of a difference when you're both IN the same country (no need to hunt for phonecards, no huge timezone difference, similar cultures, friends, and jobs).
3. for my boyfriend. i love him for he supports, encourages, humors, and sees me through my very thick skin.
4. for having a job. it's scary looking around and seeing people laid off right and left, and right now the ability to pay my bills is very very comforting.
5. for being educated. my parents are truly to thank for this. my life would have been very different if i had not the opportunities that i did have, and it has made my life more comfortable. i will always want to make the most out of this.
6. last but not least, for all my friends. those who have always been there, through the small and big things, those who left but came back, those in close proximity, and those far far away. i'm very blessed to have each one of you.
