reunion!!!
OMG OMG i'm so excited. :)
yay it's time again for a reunion for my college buddies. :) the last time all 8 of us properly met up was over a year ago during new years in LA...a whole ton of fun at mickey's, santa monica (what else did we do?! i only remember shopping and clubbing non-stop).
although we've met up separately on and off throughout the last year, i think we're finally all going to meet up again in chicago. this is going to be so much fun. where are we all going to sleep steph??
i call dibs on the bed.

lost sock
i lost a sock. i'm so bedaffled. i rarely lose socks, so i really wonder where it could be.
and it's not even my favorite pair. eh whatever.

reflections
i realize i don't have very many goals. someone told me to list down what i'd like to do on 43things.com and i realize i had trouble writing anything, not because i didn't like to do anything in particular, but that i didn't feel strongly enough about doing anything that was worth writing down. independently, my manager asked me if i reflect on my life. when i said 'erm i don't think so?', he encouraged me to think about what i've achieved so far in the year and make sure that it fit into my career and personal goals.
maybe this is the reason why i don't care to have resolutions. if i were to write down what i'd like to do in a year, and i don't do any of it (because i didn't care strongly about them in the first place), then i'd feel miserable because it would look like i didn't achieve anything. i'd be happier if i didn't write the list in the first place.
do i really rush through life? am i that type of person who rushes around doing things that i don't stop to think of an end goal? should i start a list? i believe i know what i want career-wise, but what personal goals should i have? i don't want to have life whizz by me without me knowing.

alpha male
tonight a bunch of us back from my days in berkeley met up at gordon biersch for dinner and some drinks. it was nice, to see where we all are now, having grown up in the working world, but still keep the silliness of our previous days.
was chatting to a friend about life, graduate school, the working world, being in different countries, different cultures, and what we want to do with our lives. we were simply discussing the topic of where to go this coming saturday night when he mentioned that i usually called the shots whenever we did things together. the alpha male of my group of college best friends.
haha. it's good to be reminded that i'm usually independent and strong-willed. sometimes you need reminders like that. thanks. :)

my working life
wow, working in novato has gotten me into some bad habits.
i've gotten quite reckless while driving now. i've brought my commute time down from 1 1/2 hours each way to just over an hour though the distance is still the same. today i almost hit 2 cars, and came very close to bringing down a cyclist. i swear, i really didn't see him.
second. i hope i don't get addicted to coffee. i've found out that i actually like drip coffee (okay anyone, is there such a thing as capulated coffee?) and it definitely keeps me awake throughout the day. it's such a bad habit though, i shouldn't be dependent on it.
third. i don't see my roommate anymore. :( yes i'm living at home, but i get back late everyday and wake up early the next day. we need to hang out, maybe brokeback mountain? :) he DID say yes.

another day
there are days like these that i feel like curling up forever.
never waking up, sleeping like you don't have a care in the world.
i don't like growing up, can't i be a kid again? someone take care of me please
time to go to work.

bye seattle
i love the city. or maybe more the company of those whom i hang out with there.
i always have an insane amount of fun, no matter what. whether it's shopping, mad karoke-ing (i have never heard so much country before), uwajimaya, picnic in the car, visiting microsoft, zebraclub, malay satay hut (seriously though, there are NO homeless people in seattle. i walked for 4 blocks trying to find one), wine tasting, pool, even 12 hours of sleep was a lot of fun. of which btw i just discovered recently that i'm actually capable of sleeping in in the mornings.
oh btw. eric is awesome. he found me this song. wow. For the Widows in Paradise, for the Fatherless in Ypsilanti.

'accidents'
how dumb can this get.
president bush collides with a policeman while riding a mountain bike and VP cheney accidentally shoots a 78-year-old man while quail hunting.
i mean. did the guy look like a bird?

god is good
here in this maddening maze of things
when tossed by storm and flood
to one fixed ground my spirit clings
i know that God is good

leading a double life
sometimes i feel like i'm leading a double life. and it always happens whenever i go back home.
i'm pretty sure that there are at least others who have spent a significant amount of time in different places who feel that way. in many ways i feel like i've changed, and for the better, which is expected because everyone grows up, but whenever i go home, it always seems that there is something different about me that is foreign to those who matter most to me, and causes me to not want to be whom i've become.
i speak differently, though in the same language. i act differently, have different friends, lead a different lifestyle. which one then is my true self? if one had to choose, which one would i rather be? am i being dishonest with myself?
as much as others try and reinvent themselves throughout life, i spend a lot of time trying to figure out who i truly am and fight change. sometimes i feel that the wheel of change is too fast and we get too caught up in trying to live, that we forget who we really are. or maybe it's because i'm just afraid of people not knowing me anymore.
p.s. on a different note, jon just called me MARKETABLE. i'm just gonna close one eye and pretend it's a compliment, because he DID compare me to a 50-year-old white-haired indian man.

leaving malaysia
it's always too soon to leave. no matter how long or short i stay.
it was a good time. i miss my family. i miss my friends already. i hate leaving. time to start adjusting back to life on my own again.
on the other hand, am still stuck in the singapore airport since i have a horrendously long layover here. still have more than 20 hours of travel but changi isn't a bad airport to get stuck in i suppose. there's a movie theater, fitness center, massage center, swimming pool (?!), beds, shopping mall, seriously this airport is nice.
logging out.
