chocolate zucchini bread - YUM!!!

for those who haven't discovered, this is a *great* recipe for chocolate zucchini bread.

tip: double the baking soda required, and add like twice the amount of chocolate chips. *sigh* i actually have to bring this to my sister in austin. and she won't even tapau jalepeno sausage for me!!

INGREDIENTS
2 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
3 eggs
2 cups white sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
2 cups grated zucchini
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease two 9x5 inch loaf pans. In a microwave-safe bowl, microwave chocolate until melted. Stir occasionally until chocolate is smooth.
In a large bowl, combine eggs, sugar, oil, grated zucchini, vanilla and chocolate; beat well. Stir in the flour baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Fold in the chocolate chips. Pour batter into prepared loaf pans.
Bake in preheated oven for 60 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a loaf comes out clean.

krista was the most beautiful bride ever.
the new mr and mrs kshatriya... :)

all the women got mendhi. never thought i'd say this, but it looks awesome!

the sangeet is a night of 'song and dance', a day before the wedding. borrowed this red sari from shags (YUP, she's the small one on the right), needless to say, i didn't quite breathe the whole night.

me, gireeja and shags. those two seriously love dancing.

we did the dandia - was absolutely fun!! sometimes it got dangerous passing through people (as some folks were WILDLY swinging their sticks).

the girls during the reception dinner. okay fyi, that blue sari was SOO comfortable. totally loved wearing it.

the old crew from cal (gireeja's considered) - it was a great reunion!!

my old roomie and i on the plane back...i miss those guys :( krista (and ajay) are happily honeymooning in thailand/cambodia.

women with women

i've noticed something.

it's common courtesy for a man to step back and let a woman exit the elevator before he does (not going to go into the gender equality argument now), but what happens if it were two women instead? who would let who out first?

i've noticed that some women are so oblivious to others that they naturally expect others to exit after they do. they are accustomed to having others move out of their way. like they deserve it. nothing pisses me off more though than having to let some other woman out first although i was closer to the doors because she just didn't wait to see if others wanted to go out too!

i always try and be conscious of that. even if men are there, i wait, to see if they'd like to head out first, or go through doors first. i don't always assume that they will hold the door for me, just because i'm female. and if they do, i smile and nod, just to say thanks, and that i don't take their gesture for granted.

at 160

so i don't know what i did - i just had my annual physical, and my cholestrol level is lower! (compared to last year).

maybe it's the *slight* loss in weight? (but i definitely was not overweight to begin with), or the tons-of-walking? (but i've stopped walking for 4 months already), so i can't quite put my finger on it.

whatever it is, i'm glad. i pigged out with a grilled spam and egg burger right after. :p
