gender discrimination

so i check into westin today and had previously made a reservation for a king-size bed. but when i went to my room, there were two double beds instead.

so i called front desk to see if i had mistakenly forgotten to ask for a king-size, but front desk assures me that i had made no mistake.

my only mistake however, was being a 'petite woman'.

front desk very politely informed me, that since i had checked in late, there were limited rooms, and the manager had told her to assign men to king-size beds and women to double beds.

wait what?!

her manager's reasoning (mind you, it was a guy) was that men had trouble fitting into a double bed; king-sized ones would allow them to sleep diagonally. whereas me, i'd be able to fit into a double bed with no problem. and she went on to justify that women liked to use the other bed to lay out their clothes anyway.

i was too tired to lie that i also like to sleep diagonally. i feel like i've regressed 50 years.
